Our Story - Faithfully retold by Kazia

We both went to the University of California at San Diego (UCSD) for college. But there are over 16,000 people who attend UCSD so it was not a foregone conclusion that we would meet. Fate, and my best friend Dana seemed determined to put Doug and I together. Dana and Doug both played volleyball for UCSD, and played in beach volleyball tournaments as partners. Dana thought that Doug and I would be perfect for each other. Doug and I knew better and were determined not to be fixed up. So Doug and I ignored each other for two years until Dana gave up. Then at her Halloween Party in 2001, the magic happened. Maybe in costume we didn't recognize the other as the setup we were avoiding, or maybe it was the strong punch. Regardless, before long, I as Marilyn Monroe and Doug as a Security Guard were slow dancing the night away. The rest is relationship history.

I have never meet someone to honest and loving as Doug. When we go running he always runs at my pace, no matter how slow I am. Doug is a magical cook. And I am a dancing diva. We complement each others strengths and weaknesses, but most of all we are each others strength and joy. Together, each of life's delights is doubled and the sorrows diminished.

Doug was unendingly supportive of my choice to change careers from Marketing to Nursing. Doug and I have shared some amazing experiences such as exploring Peru, and the Bahamas. We hope to share a beautiful life of long dinners with good friends, travel to distant lands, life- long learning, and family. We plan to start our married life together on an adventure through South East Asia for a month-long Honeymoon. We can't wait to see you in Mexico!!
